DTV Unveils Major Expansion, Launching Mobile Apps with 24/7 Access and Full HD on Charter Channel 191

DAVISON (DTV) – (8/7/2025) – DTV is making a major upgrade to its broadcasting services, significantly expanding its reach to the Davison community and beyond. Beginning August 26, 2025, viewers will be able to access DTV programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on mobile devices via the new DTV Stream app, on popular streaming platforms, and can tune into a new, fully operational HD broadcast on Charter Channel 191.

The expansion includes:

Mobile apps: The new “DTV Stream” app is available for free download from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, providing 24/7 access to DTV programs and events.
Streaming platforms: DTV’s content will now also be available on Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV.
Coming Soon: Full HD on Charter Channel 191: The station’s Charter channel will begin broadcasting in full high definition, offering a superior viewing experience for the community.

“This is a really big move for us,” said DTV Teacher Randy Scott “With 24/7 access on the new app, it’s going to be so easy for our community to access DTV now, and the content will look so much better with our new HD channel. This expansion is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff, and we are thrilled to bring our content to more people in more ways than ever before”.

For more than 20 years, DTV has been the source for student-produced news, sports, and student life coverage in the Davison School District. A state-of-the-art studio, funded by a 2020 voter-approved bond, provides students with professional-grade equipment and an invaluable learning experience in broadcasting.

DHS E-Sports Tryout Signups

DAVISON (DTV) – (09/05/2024) – Sign-ups for the fall 2024 Davison High School E-Sports teams are now open. If you are interested in signing up for one of the E-Sports teams, signups will be held Friday, September 6th in the DHS cafeteria during all lunches. If you miss that sign up see Coach Balla in the COBRA office or email JBalla@davisonschools.org.

Registration for the fall league closes on September 19th.

Davison High School E-Sports will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament on On Thursday, September 12th, at 4 pm. This tournament is only open to Davison High School students and will also be doubling as a tryout event for team placement. To tryout, you must have a valid school ID or ID numbers available.

It’s no secret. Over the past few years, there has been a declining trust in the news the public receives on a daily basis and the media in general.

DTV feels this topic really hits close to home. It is also an issue that we feel hasn’t been getting enough attention and was relevant, especially in the recent political climate.

During this special we’ll give you a look into the world of journalism and present views from all sides. We will cover topics from fake news, local vs national media, and the attacks on the media by President Trump.

Can we break down the barriers between people and the media? Will people ever again be able to say “In News We Trust?”

DTV Presents: FNL

Macho Man, Space Travel, and Tee-Ball. What do these have to do with each other? FNL! FNL is a production put on by DTV for the past 2 years during May, FNL stands for “Friday Night Live” and is a spoof of “Saturday Night Live.” The show consists of live skits preformed in the DHS auditorium and digital shorts in-between live skits played on the auditorium’s projector. This is the 3rd year in a row DTV has put this show on, the show was an idea of DTV Alumni Christian Thwing’s and he proposed the show in his junior year of high school. The show was a way to show what the Promotions department of DTV had to offer in comparison to DTV’s Sports and News departments, since the Promotions department had never really done their own special. The first two shows in 2014 and 2015 were a resounding success, and DTV is shooting for the stars with the 3rd show. This year’s cast list includes:

MIPA and MAB Contests

Each year, DTV submits it’s projects to two statewide contests held by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) and the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA). Each contest has categories that individual videos are submitted to. DTV has been earned dozens of awards, most for individual categories, and some for the bigger awards, which you can read about at https://dtvnews.org/awards/. Upgrading DTV

A package rolls into Davison High School on a warm September day. The address reads, “Randy Scott, Davison High School”.

Inside the package, and the other packages to come, lies the future of Davison High School’s television station.

The Broadcast Pix Granite switcher along with our two brand new 40″ Samsung monitors.

The Broadcast Pix Granite Switcher is the key piece to the re-invention of DTV in this new school year. The switcher runs the show when we’re live. It controls how we present ourselves on-air during live events. Not only that, but soon it will be the main center for all of our graphics as well. With that said, it is without a doubt the most important piece!

The Sony PXW-X320 XDCAM.

Another key piece to our live event broadcasts is the brand new cameras we got. The Sony PXW-X320 XDCAM’s are top-notch cameras that DTV will be using for big events such as football games and live concerts at DHS. These changes mean DTV can finally move from analog to Digital, and now we can shoot and edit all videos in High Definition.

The Soundcraft LX7ii

The newest addition to our upgrade is our new audio board, the Soundcraft LX7ii. Not only will our video look good, it will sound great. This board allows us to preview our audio without having to put sound out on air.

These upgrades have been 10 years in the making. Everything was paid for by funds raised by the DTV program, Career Tech Education funds, and generous help from the Davison Schools administration.

With all of these changes a new foundation has been created for the DTV program to continue to grow and create great television and educational experiences for years to come.

Arcadia by DTV Films

Arcadia is DTV Films’ very first feature length movie, running 1 hour and 24 minutes. Arcadia is a coming of age story centered around two teenagers in the small town of Arcadia, MI. It was made by Merek Alam and Cain Pedersen for their senior exit project, they started production in mid July of 2015. Merek, Cain, and fellow DTV Films member Dane Morgan went up to Arcadia for a week at a time to film, acting and direction were both done by Merek and Cain while camera work was primarily done by Dane. Arcadia focuses on Merek and Cain back in their 8th grade year of middle school discovering this small town and then goes forward to their senior year in high school as they return to Arcadia.
