If you choose to register fifteen or more days before an election you can register by mail, online by going to www.michigan.gov, or in person at your local clerk’s office. But if there are only 14 days before the election, October 21st, you can only register in person.
To vote, you must be 18 by the election date, November 5th, a United States citizen, and not currently incarcerated.
Eligible 16 and 17-year-olds can pre-register to vote.
One thing that all young voters think about is safety, and rest assured, voting is very secure.
The election is carried out by both Democratic, Republican, and Nonpartisan clerks. There is a physical copy of the vote tallies, this ensures all errors are caught and corrected. Voting has gotten safer and safer and will keep improving.
Stay informed, choose wisely, and remember your vote matters.
