Davison football heads to Bobcat territory Friday night

GRAND BLANC (DTV) – (9/17/21) – Davison football is facing their second-most played opponent tonight, the Grand Blanc Bobcats. The last 5 match ups of these two teams, Davison outscores Grand Blanc 232-59. The difference between these two totals is a monstrous 173 points and Davison has won all 5 games against the Bobcats.

The gates at Grand Blanc High School will open at 5:30 p.m. with kick-off at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5. Ages 63 and over and 5 and under get in for free. Due to a full fan base being back on their site, bags and purses will NOT be allowed into the Grand Blanc Stadium and you may be subject to additional security screening.

Financial aid workshop to be held at DHS

DAVISON (DTV) – (09/16/21) – Financial aid advisors from the University of Michigan Flint and the counselors from Davison High School will be holding a financial aid night for students and their parents. It will be held Thursday night, October 7th, from 6 until 8 p.m. in the DHS auditorium.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, provides more than $150 billion in grants, loans, and work study funds each year. It is highly recommended that parents fill out the application for their college-bound student each year even if you think you don’t qualify for financial aid.

During the workshop on October 7th you will learn more about FAFSA and will also receive step by step instructions on how to complete the FAFSA form.

Here is what you need to do/bring to prepare for the workshop:

  1. Prior to the workshop, 1 parent and the student should complete the on-line application for a “FSA ID”. Go to https://studentaid.gov Once there you will see “create an account” (FSA ID) Hit on “get started” Bring the FSA ID with you on FAFSA night.
  2. Parents bring their FSA ID and 2020 W2 forms
  3. Parents bring their 2020 Federal Income Tax Return
  4. Social Security numbers for BOTH parents
  5. Drivers license for parent and student
  6. Student should bring their FSA ID, 2020 W2, 2020 Federal Income Tax Return (if filed)

The Genesee Health Department mask mandate clarified

GENESEE COUNTY (DTV) – (9/13/2021) – The Genesee County Health Department has some new updates to it’s guidelines for the school mask mandate.

Pre-K through 12th grade students must wear a mask and the health department highly recommends 2 and 3 year olds to also mask up. Not only do masks need to be worn inside during school hours by all students, and staff members, but they are also required for anyone attending any indoor after school activities. This includes indoor sporting events, concerts and school board meetings. Daycares and tutoring centers also fall under the mask mandate.

The mandate will last until Genesee County reaches moderate transmission status for 14 consecutive days.

September “Gold Out” Game

DAVISON (DTV) – (8/30/2021) – Davison Community Schools is once again pairing with Hilton Screeners to raise money for Childhood Cancer. During the month of September, there will be a gold apparel program. A percentage of the proceeds will go to St. Jude’s.

The football game against Carman-Ainsworth on the 24th of September will be the “gold out” game. We ask you to wear gold clothing to show your Cardinal spirit.

The DHS parking lot situation

DAVISON (DTV) – (8/23/2021) – Everyone knows that the parking lot issue is quite prominent. With construction happening, numbers faded away, and more student drivers than ever, it is packed to the max. However, there are ways to get around this until these problems are solved:

  1. Park in YOUR spot.
  2. Until the numbers are painted, you can find your spot by counting the rows around your spot and following the numbers.
  3. IF someone is in your spot, park in the visitor lot and report it to the main office.
  4. If you want a map they can be found in the main office.
  5. And when communicating with staff, peers, and anyone else, treat them with respect and remain calm.

The numbers in the parking lot are going to be painted soon, so make sure to stay patient and this problem will be resolved.

6-State Championship winner Mike Williams to be the new Davison Basketball Head Coach

DAVISON (DTV) – (7/6/2021) – Hiring Mike Williams as the new head coach may be the next step that Davison Basketball needs in getting a State Championship.

Former Flint Beecher head coach Williams has an outstanding record with the Bucs. In his 17 seasons as the head coach, he won 6 state championships with the team.

After battling the tough loss of his father to Coronavirus in 2020, Williams and the Bucs went on to win another State Championship.  Williams says the time was right for a change.

A Long Awaited End

DAVISON (DTV) – (6/09/2021) – On Monday, June 7th, the Davison Class of 2021 officially graduated and are taking the next step in their lives, although, this graduation was special.

For one, it was outside instead of it being inside. There had been the two previous drive-in graduations by Davison Schools for the 2020 Class, however, with semi-lifted COVID-19 restrictions taking place, a full audience was at the brand-new Cardinal Football Field.

That is another new twist to the typical graduation-it was on the recently-placed turf the Cardinal Football team plays on. With these new additions, though, the weather is another one that can’t be forgotten.

The fear of a rain-out was on everyone’s minds, but Principal Jacobs affirmed, “We’re having the graduation happen, rain or shine.” 

And so it did; the graduation continued, parents witnessed their kids walk across the stage, and the students got to flip their tassels at the end.

127th DHS graduation to be held at Cardinal Stadium

DAVISON (DTV) – (06/02/21) – The 127th Davison High School commencement exercises will be held Monday June 7th at 7 p.m. It will be the first event held at the newly renovated Cardinal Stadium. Graduates will be given 6 tickets each for their guests. These tickets are to accommodate guests who cannot stand for long periods of time and to accommodate families that want to social distance if they would like. There will also be unlimited standing room only just off the sides of the grandstands.

Recommended graduation attire is a dress shirt and tie, dress slacks, dress shoes, or dress with low heels. No spike or long heels. You will be walking across turf. Alternative graduation dates are June 13th and June 14th. DTV will be streaming the event LIVE on Charter channel 191 and also on our YouTube channel DTV News. Below is some important  “day of” information for seniors.

DROP-IN TIMES FOR SENIORS

On the day of graduation from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. will be drop-in times and final time for Chromebooks, fines, debts, and any outstanding school supplies to be returned and/or paid. (If you have an AP test after June 7, please keep your Chrome book and return it on June 17, 2021, at 8:00am. Students with outstanding school fines and supplies will NOT be able to participate in the graduation ceremony. Arrive with enough time to go through all of our stations, otherwise, you will need to stay after the luncheon to complete the exit process. If you arrive at 9:00am, you
will be checked through first without a long wait time and then you can come back to campus at 11:15am for graduation rehearsal.

When arriving at the high school, park in your normal parking spot. If you don’t have a parking spot, park in the visitor parking, staff parking, or DAE parking lot. Bring your Time Capsule items to be locked away until 2051.

GRADUATION REHEARSAL

From 11:30 a.m until 1 p.m is the graduation rehearsal and senior picnic luncheon (mandatory) at Cardinal Stadium. Rehearsal starts at 11:30am sharp! The luncheon will consist of pizza, cookies/chips, and a drink.

Qualifying Graduate: 1. Met all of the DHS graduation credit requirements. 2. Returned all school supplies, and /or paid all school-related fines. 3. Attended graduation rehearsal without behavioral issues.
