DAVISON (DTV) – (5/22/2024) – Davison has been becoming more diverse over the years with more and more new people and businesses. The BP station that sits on Lapeer Road and M-15 is one of the businesses in Davison that has seen some new life over the last decade. It is owned by the Denha family who moved from Iraq to seek better living here in the United States. They are part of an increasingly more diverse city. Over the past 10 years the minority rate has gone up by almost 10% percent in schools and has changed with both students and staff.
DTV’s Experience at Ford Field for Football State Finals
DETROIT (DTV) – (11/26/23) – The press box smelled like popcorn and new paper. The stands were loud and full of Belleville and Southfield A&T fans alike. The sideline was bright and warm under Ford Fields stadium lights. Sunday night DTV was given the great opportunity from MHSAA to film highlights of the Division 1 Football Finals.
We began the hour-long road trip, stopping for dinner on the way to Detroit. Both vans of DTV members were bubbling with excitement to get to this game. Football finals are fun to watch themselves, but the feeling of being on the field with a camera is even better. Not to mention the view from the press box, where you can see the whole game and crowd from 7 stories up.
Trips like this connect us through our common love of sports broadcasting. Students got to record and edit highlights, announce the game, make social media posts, and write web articles (like this one!). All of this work is done right beside professional reporters.
“Even though Davison isn’t playing, I think It’s an amazing opportunity to be at Ford Field,” says junior Cooper Austin. “and I’m happy to do it with some of my best friends.”
At the end of Thanksgiving weekend, the students of DTV are very grateful to go to events like this. It brings us together and helps make the program feel like a family. We can’t wait for more trips like this in the future.
No Justice In Flint Water Investigation
DAVISON (DTV) – (11/1/2023) – The Michigan Supreme Court has denied appeals from a lower court, completely dismissing the criminal charges against former Governor Rick Snyder and previously 8 other government officials connected to the Flint Water Crisis. The ruling took place after Attorney General Dana Nessel’s appointed prosecutors Fadwa Hammoud and Kym Worthy used a one-person grand jury in these cases which the Michigan Supreme Court invalidated.
DTV asked Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel about justice for the people of Flint recently, and the Attorney General had no update and walked away from our interview.

The Flint Prosecution Team released a statement Tuesday evening stating, “Today, our Supreme Court has put the final nail in the coffin of the Flint Water prosecutions. The Court decided that a process that has stood in place for over a century, one whose legitimacy the Court upheld repeatedly, was simply not ‘good enough’ to hold those responsible for the Flint Water Crisis accountable for their actions. Our disappointment in the Michigan Supreme Court is exceeded only by our sorrow for the people of Flint.”Current Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley has pointed to the fact that the strategy of a one-man jury has been used many times, and justice has not been served due to a technicality.
Back in 2016, former Attorney General Bill Schuette announced charges against top government officials, including manslaughter. However, he did not charge former Governor Rick Snyder. When Dana Nessel was elected Attorney General, she dropped all charges in the Flint Water investigation and launched her own cases, including one against the former Governor. After almost a decade of promises from both Schuette and Nessel, it now appears that there will be no one held criminally accountable for the Flint Water Crisis.
