Davison football’s biggest game of the regular season is tomorrow

DAVISON (DTV) – (10/20/2021) – The 5-3 Cardinals are ready to take on their arch-rivals, Lapeer, tomorrow at Cardinal Stadium!

Davison is coming off a 4-game win streak, outscoring each opponent by at least 20 points in each contest:

( DAV-50 CA-13 )

( DAV-62 SAH-0 )

( DAV-27 MID-7 )

( DAV-42 PC-14 )

Lapeer, on the other hand, lost to the Grand Blanc Bobcats in their last game, 6-30.

Last year, these teams competed twice and Davison won each time (37-6 and 47-6)

This game will decide whether or not Davison is guaranteed in the playoffs this year. To explain, if Davison wins, they’ve assured a playoff spot. If they lose, they still have a chance at making the playoffs, however, it is not 100% guaranteed.

We’ll see on Friday if Lapeer can stop the current trend or if Davison will continue it.

Tickets will be 5 bucks at the gate and it is also Davison’s Pink Out game, so don’t forget to wear pink to help raise breast cancer awareness!

Superhero 5K Run happening this Weekend

DAVISON (DTV) – (09/14/21) – The superhero 5k run is happening downtown Flint Saturday, September 18th.
The price to get in is $30 now, or $40 the day of the event.
All proceeds will benefit abused and neglected children through the Voices For Children Advocacy Center.
If you would like to run this weekend, you can pick up a registration form in front of the main office of Davison High School.

Cardinal Shop is back in business

DAVISON (DTV) – (09/13/21) – The Cardinal shop is now officially back after being closed last school year.

It is located in the Davison High School cafeteria and will be open during all lunches or right after-school.

The shop offers all kinds of cardinal gear, snacks, and more!

The Genesee Health Department mask mandate clarified

GENESEE COUNTY (DTV) – (9/13/2021) – The Genesee County Health Department has some new updates to it’s guidelines for the school mask mandate.

Pre-K through 12th grade students must wear a mask and the health department highly recommends 2 and 3 year olds to also mask up. Not only do masks need to be worn inside during school hours by all students, and staff members, but they are also required for anyone attending any indoor after school activities. This includes indoor sporting events, concerts and school board meetings. Daycares and tutoring centers also fall under the mask mandate.

The mandate will last until Genesee County reaches moderate transmission status for 14 consecutive days.

 

Alex Facundo wins Dave Schultz award and is ranked as nation’s top high school wrestler

DAVISON (DTV) – (8/18/21) – Davison Wrestler Alex Facundo was awarded with the 2021 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award. This award is given to the top senior wrestler in the country which makes the Penn State commit the #1 Senior Wrestler.

Last season, Facundo led Davison to the Division 1 state wrestling championship last season and incredibly stayed #1 in his weight class 3 straight years.

It’s no concern that he won this award and will continue to do great things for Davison and Penn State in the future.

6-State Championship winner Mike Williams to be the new Davison Basketball Head Coach

DAVISON (DTV) – (7/6/2021) – Hiring Mike Williams as the new head coach may be the next step that Davison Basketball needs in getting a State Championship.

Former Flint Beecher head coach Williams has an outstanding record with the Bucs. In his 17 seasons as the head coach, he won 6 state championships with the team.

After battling the tough loss of his father to Coronavirus in 2020, Williams and the Bucs went on to win another State Championship.  Williams says the time was right for a change.

A Long Awaited End

DAVISON (DTV) – (6/09/2021) – On Monday, June 7th, the Davison Class of 2021 officially graduated and are taking the next step in their lives, although, this graduation was special.

For one, it was outside instead of it being inside. There had been the two previous drive-in graduations by Davison Schools for the 2020 Class, however, with semi-lifted COVID-19 restrictions taking place, a full audience was at the brand-new Cardinal Football Field.

That is another new twist to the typical graduation-it was on the recently-placed turf the Cardinal Football team plays on. With these new additions, though, the weather is another one that can’t be forgotten.

The fear of a rain-out was on everyone’s minds, but Principal Jacobs affirmed, “We’re having the graduation happen, rain or shine.” 

And so it did; the graduation continued, parents witnessed their kids walk across the stage, and the students got to flip their tassels at the end.

Davison’s Allison Hawk up for MLive player of the week

DAVISON (DTV) – (05/26/21) – Davison High School track and field athlete Allison Hawk is among 18 other students up for MLive’s Flint area high school sports athlete of the week.

Hawk won the 300 hurdles in a personal-record 46 point 58 and she also ran on the first-place 400 relay team in the Division 1 regional meet at Saginaw Heritage.

She will be competing in the June 5th track finals at East Kentwood High School. You can vote for Hawk until 9 AM this Friday May 28th by clicking HERE.

Senior Requirements

DAVISON (DTV) – (5/12/2021) – On the 20th of May, Seniors will be making the next step in their lives and looking past their high school lives. Although, there are a few things you must do first.

On Monday, senior students will be able to pick up their caps and gowns.

Then, on Tuesday, exams for seniors will be during 3rd and 4th hour. They’re encouraged to wear their caps and gowns.

And on Wednesday, 5th and 6th hour will be exams times for seniors.

Last, during 1st and 2nd hour on Thursday, senior will take their exams. These can be taken from home.

Next, submitting pictures for the senior slideshow is important, so don’t forget to send some! They’re due on the 19th.

Also, Senior Honors night is on the 3rd of June in the DHS Auditorium. An invitation letter was sent to you if you are receiving an award or scholarship. You can pick up the tickets at DHS from May 6th until June 2nd.

And on June 7th, Chromebook drop-off times will be from 9 am until 11 am. Don’t forget some time capsule times too! These will be opened in 2051.

Also on June 7th, the Graduation Rehearsal and Senior Picnic Luncheon (mandatory) will be at Cardinal Stadium. Rehearsal starts at 11:30 am sharp! Two graduation tickets will be distributed after the event.

And later at 7pm, the High School Graduation will happen! Alternative graduation dates are June 13th and June 14th! The recommended clothing attire is stated below:

Dress shirt and tie, dress slacks, dress shoes, or dress with low heels. No spike or long heels.
