Seniors defeat Juniors in Powder-puff 2019

DAVISON (DTV) – (10/2/19) – Wednesday night the junior and senior powder puff teams took the field, and the reigning champions, the class of 2020, pulled out another win.

After beating the class of 2019 last year, they were looking to make it back to back against the newcomers, the class of 2021.

The Seniors came out to the Cardinal Stadium ready to pounce on the Juniors. Cassie Allard showed that with a touchdown in the middle of the 1st quarter making the score 6-0.

The Juniors struck back with a touchdown of their own just a minute after scored by Paige Anderson, 6-6.

It was stale for the rest of the game until OT came around.

The Juniors came out with a field goal leading the Seniors by 3.

Finally, Kiera Kusinski won the game for the Seniors with a nice catch, making the final score be 12-9. It was a hard-fought battle for both sides and a great game to watch.

September 8th-14th is National Suicide Prevention week

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/10/19) – The week of September 8th through the 14th is National Suicide Prevention week. The Davison High School Student Council is asking students and staff on Thursday, September 12th to wear the color yellow or a yellow ribbon to show support and raise awareness. The purpose of this week is to inform people of how simple actions can save a person’s life. We wear yellow to make sure people know they aren’t alone and that they have people who care.

Student council member Regan Snyder felt it was important to get the entire community involved.

Aside from wearing yellow, you can also help by using the hashtags #NSPW and #StopSuicide when posting about National Suicide Prevention Week. Sharing your story can also be inspirational. Please be nice to everyone because one word can go a mile in someone’s mind.

Michigan is the first state to ban flavored e-cigarettes

MICHIGAN (DTV) – (9/4/19) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer conducted the state health department to release emergency rules to prohibit the selling of any flavored nicotine vaping products online and in stores.

This doesn’t mean people still can’t vape, it limits variety in flavors. Smoking e-cigarettes and vaping is still legal in Michigan.

DAVISON (DTV) – (8/28/19) – Get ready for some football! The Davison Cardinals are back for their home opener against the Fenton Tigers! Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

To encourage the team, grab a snack and make your way to cheer on our Cards at the Cardinal Stadium. To encourage them a little more, check out our Charter channel 191 to watch it live. It will also be streaming live to our YouTube channel DTV News.

Davison High School Senior overcomes battle with Testicular Cancer

Davison (DTV) – (5/21/19) -Senior Connor Bozynski’s final day of high school may have been different if his perseverance was left out through a strained time in his life.

Connor has returned to school and is ecstatic to graduate and live his life after high school cancer-free.

4,300 Deaths are caused by Underaged Drinking annually

Davison (DTV) – (05/13/19) – Yes, 4,300 lives are taken every year by Underage Drinking. To go along with that, prom just happened a few days ago and open houses are starting up.

Underage Drinking is at a high right now, therefore DTV News wanted to spread awareness on the dangers of Underage Drinking.

DTV Presents: DHS and Alt Ed Graduation

On June 6th 2016, the seniors of Davison High school graduated at Dort Federal Event Center. The Commencement speaker was Michael Steinkraus, a math teacher here at DHS that won the hearts of many and was voted on by the students. DTV streamed graduation LIVE on charter channel 191 and live here.

Undrinkable: The Crisis Continues

The Flint water crisis is still ongoing and the story is only getting deeper. Congressional hearings, emails, and more health problems for the residents of Flint. Here at DTV we got the story out with the first “Undrinkable,” and now we are getting to the heart and keeping up with all new developments in our next piece, “Undrinkable: The Crisis Continues.”

Governor Rick Snyder held his state of the state address, Mayor Karen Weaver turned to the federal government, and the Flint residents have done more protesting wanting the crisis to be over after 2 years of bad water.

MIPA and MAB Contests

Each year, DTV submits it’s projects to two statewide contests held by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) and the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA). Each contest has categories that individual videos are submitted to. DTV has been earned dozens of awards, most for individual categories, and some for the bigger awards, which you can read about at https://dtvnews.org/awards/. All About that Code

The Cardinal Code has been a way for students to remind themselves how to behave for years, and the Gates Elementary staff made a great video to show it off.
