DAVISON (DTV) – Along with live broadcast of sporting events at DTV, we also provide score updates and game alerts via our social media platforms. Recently, we created a new Twitter account: DTV Sports. In sixth months we’ve gained over 160 followers. Between November and February, we recieved over 45,000 impressions on our brand new sports account.

Live Event Coverage (Sports Tournament) 

Recently, Davison High School hosted the first annual Cardinal Classic basketball tournament. Eight total teams, four games. Two teams came from out of state. Our posts consisted of score and game updates throughout the day.

Live Event Coverage (Football)

If the final game of the MHSAA football regular season, the Davison Cardinals hosted the Lapeer Lightning in a game that would determine who would make it to the playoffs and who would finish their season that night. DTV provided coverage of the game throughtout the night.

 

Live Event Coverage (Basketball)

Davison played against local rival Grand Blanc in a basketball game recently. DTV was active on social media to promote our live broadcast of the event as well as providing scoring and game updates.

 

America just went through the worst shooting in history in Las Vegas, this just goes to show that gun violence is something that is still relevant an needs to be discusses. DTV cover the topic of gun violence in our special last year, In the Line of Fire.  This topic does’t seem to be going away anytime soon !

America is said to have the most firearms per capita in the world.

In 2015 alone there were 64 school shootings.

After the Sandy Hook shooting the NRA membership surged to 5 million people.

Over the past few months DTV has been tirelessly working on our new special “In the Line of Fire”.  This special will be hosted by Jordyn Bruns and talk about gun violence in America. We have reached out and spoken to different people from all walks of life to bring you the arguments on both sides of this subject. A police Chief, a Flint preacher, a Sun Times reporter from Chicago, a Pro-Gun father, and an Anti-Gun activist are the people that make up this story.

Unlike our other specials we decided to tell the story from their points of view because everyone has a different interpretation of this controversial subject. For instance, you will not only hear from the father that lost his children, but also from the father that is educating his kids about the constitutional right that he believes will protect them for the rest of their lives.  “In the line of Fire” examines 3 questions:

Is there a gun problem in America?

Why is there a problem?

How do we fix it?

The special will also talk about the divide in our country, laws and government play into this problem. You will have a chance to see how the state laws and restrictions are different from each other. It will also showcase the Congressional Debate going on in the national government between Democrats and Republicans.

For over 14 years we have been grinding away at the DTV studios, and I’m proud to say that each and every student who has walked through the DTV doors has helped us get to this point.  Countless late nights, early mornings, and weekend editing sessions have helped build the foundation of our program. Freezing cold temps, heat waves, broken equipment, and lots of RWS III screw-ups couldn’t ever stop us from getting the job done, and getting on the air.  I’m so proud of everything we have accomplished and every single student that has dedicated themselves to help create, re-create, expand, and push our program to the next level.

It’s not often we get a chance to reflect on where we have been but we should all do it more often!
