DHS Cross Country teams race to victory at Old Skool Classic Meet

DAVISON (DTV)- (9/26/19)- On Saturday, September 20th, the varsity cross country teams dominated the categories at the Old Skool Classic Meet hosted at the Wolcott Mill Farm in Ray, MI. Listed below are the results:

 

In the Men’s Red 10

As a Team: 1st place

Individually: 1st place Brady McArdle (17:31), 2nd place Kenny Minto (17:33), 3rd place Griffin Sparks (17:55).

In the Men’s Red 12

As a Team: 1st place

Individually: 1st place Jason Millis (16:46).

 

In the Women’s Red 10

As a Team: 3rd place

Individually: 1st place Kylie Eaton (20:07), 2nd place Amanda Nickell (20:46), 9th place Nayla Zimmerman (22:22).

In the Women’s Red 11

As a Team: 1st place

Individually: 5th place Lauren Couglin (22:37).

In the Women’s Red 12

As a Team: 2nd place

Individually: 3rd place Makenzie Brownrigg (21:32).

 

On October 5th, the cross country teams are headed to the Cummings Center in Mt Morris, MI to compete in the Greater Flint Cross Country Championships.

Blood Drive

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/23/19) – On September 27th there was a blood drive run by the American Red Cross. This was at the AMR at Davison High School.

Sign-ups were held during all lunches in Mrs. Davis’ room 205. To see what will happen with your blood and if you were eligible to donate, check out the American Red Cross website for more information.

Everything you need to know about Homecoming 2019

DAVISON (DTV) – (09/17/19) – Davison’s Homecoming is the week of September 30th and we have all that you need to know about it.

To show some school spirit the student council chose this year’s Homecoming theme as “A Blast from the Past.” All classes and staff are assigned a decade to dress up from. They are:

9th- 1950’s

10th- 1960’s

11th- 1980’s

12th- 1990’s

Staff- 1970’s

If you’re bringing a date from another school to the dance on October 5th, you’re going to have to do a bit more than just buy a ticket. They will need a guest pass. To get one, they’ll have to have an administrator from another school fill out an application available in the main office. All tickets are $10 which are available during Homecoming week in the cafeteria.

Spirit week is a great way to show to show off your “Blast from the Past” look!

  • Monday 9/30: “Mix & Match Monday” who cares about matching this day, wear all the prints if you want!
  • Tuesday 10/1: “Tunes Tuesday” Wear your favorite band t-shirt.
  • Wednesday 10/2: “Way back Wednesday” Dress in the fashion styles from your decade.
  • Thursday 10/3: “Class T-Shirt Day” Sold by marketing students during all lunches.
  • Friday 10/4: “Maroon & Gold Day” Dress in your Cardinal gear to show off that school spirit!

The annual Powderpuff game will be on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7 p.m. Juniors will face the Seniors in a fierce flag football game at Cardinal Stadium. The Homecoming King and Mr. Congeniality will be revealed this night. Tickets are $5

On the 4th of October the parade starts at 5:30 pm on Clark Street outside of DHS, and will continue down Main St. Then the football game kicks off at 7:30 pm against Grand Ledge. Miss Congeniality and the Homecoming Queen will be announced at halftime.

We round out the week with the homecoming dance on Saturday, October 5th. You will be dancing through the decades at the Davison High School gym from 7 to 10:00 pm.

Have fun during Homecoming and remember to be safe while doing so!

September 8th-14th is National Suicide Prevention week

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/10/19) –  The week of September 8th through the 14th is National Suicide Prevention week. The Davison High School Student Council is asking students and staff on Thursday, September 12th to wear the color yellow or a yellow ribbon to show support and raise awareness. The purpose of this week is to inform people of how simple actions can save a person’s life. We wear yellow to make sure people know they aren’t alone and that they have people who care.

Student council member Regan Snyder felt it was important to get the entire community involved.

 

Aside from wearing yellow, you can also help by using the hashtags #NSPW and #StopSuicide when posting about National Suicide Prevention Week. Sharing your story can also be inspirational. Please be nice to everyone because one word can go a mile in someone’s mind.

Michigan is the first state to ban flavored e-cigarettes

MICHIGAN (DTV) – (9/4/19) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer conducted the state health department to release emergency rules to prohibit the selling of any flavored nicotine vaping products online and in stores.

This doesn’t mean people still can’t vape, it limits variety in flavors. Smoking e-cigarettes and vaping is still legal in Michigan.

New health science club at DHS

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/4/2019) – If you’re more of a brain surgeon than a rocket scientist, check out the Health Occupations Students of America club!

HOSA is leading in medical education that gives anyone that’s curious in healthcare the opportunity to learn more about the field and experiment what they have studied in competitions against other HOSA members.

If you’re interested and want to learn more, check out their website , or stop by and see Ms. Seiter’s in room 321 or Ms. Heath’s in room 325.

Davison High School bond proposal

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/3/19) – Would you like to have a pool or new auditorium added to the school? With a bond proposal meeting already passed, you can still make it out to a a forum like the one tonight and help make this happen. You can share your thoughts to Superintendent Kevin Brown who will be leading this meeting.

It goes from 6:30-8 p.m. at the auditorium. There will be a final meeting on September 17th from 6:30-8 p.m., ending the trilogy of these forums.

DAVISON (DTV) – (8/28/19) – Get ready for some football! The Davison Cardinals are back for their home opener against the Fenton Tigers! Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

To encourage the team, grab a snack and make your way to cheer on our Cards at the Cardinal Stadium. To encourage them a little more, check out our Charter channel 191 to watch it live. It will also be streaming live to our YouTube channel DTV News.

This year’s Miss Davison contest

DAVISON (DTV) – (06/18/19) – The 2019 Miss. Davison scholarship pageant was held in the DHS auditorium Thursday night, June 27th. This was the 81st year of the pageant. Brianna Roseberry was last year’s Miss. Davison and the court members were Jessica Noack and Carsyn Bruns. Here is the list of this year’s candidates:

DAVISON (DTV) – (06/11/2019) – Everyday millions of people are on their phones. Most of them aren’t paying any attention to their surroundings. They run into people and a lot of times they don’t acknowledge their friends or family. We often get too caught up with what’s in our phones, rather then what’s going on around us. Watch this short PSA to see reasons why our phones should be down and our heads need to be up!
