DETROIT (DTV) – (11/30/25) – Ford Field is bright and warm on this cold November night for the MHSAA football finals. The last game of the night was against two 13-0 teams, Detroit Catholic Central and Detroit Cass Tech.
Last year Cass Tech took DCC out in the semifinals, winning 17-14 in Techs closest game of the season. The technicians came into this game looking to win another state championship, and the DCC shamrocks were ready for redemption.
The first score of the game was about five minutes in from DCC wide receiver Gideon Gash. After a timeout on 4th down, he slipped through Cass Techs walls for a 47-yard touchdown. The kick attempt was no good, putting DCCs Shamrocks in the lead 6-0. Neither teams defense let up for the rest of the quarter.
Cass Tech started the second quarter unable to score. DCC senior and wide receiver Samson Gash made multiple long runs. With 3 minutes left in the half, senior Joshua Peters capped off the drive and scored a touchdown, putting DCC up 13-0 going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime refreshed and pumped, the shamrocks continued to dominate with an interception from senior Beckett Glynn, quickly followed by a 37-yard touchdown from Gideon Gash.
Cass Tech’s Peyton Robinson tucked and rolled under shamrock Lindon Bojaj, nearly scoring a touchdown catching a long pass and after replay he was ruled down at the one. Julian Taylor ended up giving Cass Tech their first score of the game with a 1-yard touchdown capping of their scoring drive.
The score was 20-7 heading into the final quarter. DCC made a field goal and scored another touchdown, followed by a Cass Tech touchdown from Corey Sadler Jr. Tech’s 2-point conversion was no good. Gideon Gash scored another touchdown, followed by the final score of the game from DCC senior Benny Eziuka on an incredible interception return for the defensive linemen.
Cass Tech got the last score of the game from William Sykes Jr. with 14 seconds left. Detroit Catholic Central won the game 42-19, making up for last years loss in the semifinals and ending a fantastic game.
MHSAAs football finals were supported by the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. Before the game and between quarters, ads for student aid programs played, reminding players of what’s to come. Many seniors are playing football for the last time. The ride home for both teams will be bittersweet, as friends and brothers remember the highs and lows of high school football, and both teams lose key players.
