Throughout two critical injuries, and a team that used their bond to keep together during games, the boys and girls basketball season had a ending that seemed to close for comfort.
For the boys team, they had a hot start but when Cade Coleman was injured with a broken ankle, and Jaylen Rutherford following soon after with Turf Toe, they saw a flash of darkness but when Rutherford came back he picked up where he left off. The guys were on a 8 game hot streak, but when they turned to Jaylen for a huge dunk, unfortunately, due to a hard block, Rutherford fell and broke his arm, back came Coleman and picked up some slack of Rutherford’s absence. The guys finished off their regular season 17-4 (9-2 Conference). On March 6th, they traveled to Kearsley High School and took on Saginaw Arthur Hill (12-5) for a district title and took an unfortunate loss 64 to 55.
And for the girls team, they had a struggled start and eventually found an inner bond that brought them closer to victories as the season continued. They finished 3rd in the conference underneath Flint Carman-Ainsworth and Lapeer. They faced Clio in districts and also fell 51 to 40.
Both teams had an amazing season and throughout the fight they remembered how much of a family they are.
