DAVISON (DTV) – (09/19/19) – “I just want everybody to have the same kind of memories and get to create fun times with their friends.”
Carsyn Bruns, a senior at DHS, and National Honor Society member, is starting a new annual event for girls in the Davison community.
“I know homecoming can be really expensive, especially if girls are paying for it themselves. Dresses are expensive, tickets are expensive, all that kind of stuff, so I figured if I could just help girls buy dresses then it would make homecoming a better experience.”, said Bruns
Friday September 20th, from 2:30 until 7 p.m. in the Athletic Meeting Room, you can have the dress shopping experience without having to go far. All of the dresses will be $10, but if you donate a dress you get a dress for free.
“I’ve been working with a few people at the school to help make it really fun we’re going to have it down in the AMR, we’re going to have music, a stage, dressing rooms, and stuff like that so you can just come try dresses on, hang out with the girls, and just have a good time.”, said Bruns.
Carsyn hopes to renew this dress event idea for prom season. “My hope is, if it’s successful I am going to try again for prom and maybe get the word out sooner so I can get more dresses and then also help girls find new prom dresses.”
The idea behind the drive is that everyone gets an opportunity to find their dream dress without breaking the bank. “I just want everyone have the chance to pick out a homecoming dress and sometimes they are far away, or you can’t get to the store and so if it is at the high school, everybody can come down afterschool it’s easy and you can just pick out a free dress.”
Dresses can still be donated by anyone in the community. You can drop them off at the main office in the high school or bring them to the dress drive event on Friday.
