DAVISON (DTV) – (2/13/20) – On Wednesday, February 5th Emma LaVelle performed a figure skating routine for the first time at a Davison Varsity Hockey game. On her own time Emma spends hours at the rink practicing, teaching one-on-one lessons, and performing in competitions outside of the Davison School District. This story gives an in-depth look at why Emma is so passionate about figure skating and what it truly means to both herself and her long-standing family tradition.
Emma has found herself on the ice, and plans to continue to stay there. She has already signed her letter of intent to compete at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. In April of 2020, she will audition to see which of Adrian’s teams she will compete for. Emma hopes she will make the cut for the Figure Skating team or Synchronized Skating team.
In January of 2020, the Adrian Figure Skating team placed 1st at the Maize and Blue Match-up hosted at the University of Michigan: Ann Arbor, and the Synchronized Skating team took the silver medal as a representative for Team USA at their international competition.
Hopefully Emma can be found on one of these teams come competition season in 2021.
