Charlie Brown and his friends are coming to DHS

DAVISON (DTV) – (11/17/22) – It just isn’t the holiday season without Charlie Brown and his pal Snoopy! The Davison Community Enrichment and Recreation Actor’s Playhouse is putting on a production of “Snoopy!”
Opening night is tonight, November 17th, at 6:30 p.m. in the DHS Auditorium. It will also run Friday November 18th at the same time. Saturday November 19th there will be two performances at 2 pm and 6 pm.

There will be scenes from Charlie Brown’s Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! Tickets are $8 each and are free for 3 and under. You can buy them through DCER by calling 810-591-0175 or visiting dcer.davisonschools.org 
Doors will open 30 minutes before each show.

 

Davison Decision Starts!!!

DAVISON (DTV) – (10/11/22) – It feels like 2020 was only a couple of weeks ago, but the 2022 midterm elections are less than a month away. DTV will be covering the midterm elections as part of our “Davison Decision”. Davison residents will be updated in all of the key races.  DTV will be covering the first gubernatorial debate in Grand Rapids on Thursday, October 13th giving you live updates on through our social media media pages.  DTV also plans on informing you of the 3 proposals Michiganders will be voting on. 

We have teamed up with the Davion High School Student council to get all eligible DHS students registered to vote. Students who meet the following requirements are eligible to vote and should expect some information from the student council coming soon.

  • Students must be 18 years of age by election day
  • Have residency in their city or township for more than 30 days
  • Must be a US citizen

October is college month! What you need to know

DTV (Davison) – (10/3/2022) – October is college and career awareness month! Which means this month students are encouraged to research colleges, scholarship information, career paths and overall options for students after high school!

College month starts off with the college & career kickoff. You can come anytime between 6pm-8pm October 4th to learn about choosing a college, applying to college, financing college, FAFSA, scholarship opportunities, Genesee opportunity stipend, career exploration, skilled trades and career next steps. If you’re interested or want more info you can scan the QR code by clicking THIS slideshow.

Every Wednesday students can get college application assistance between 8:30am-9:30am or 2:36pm-3:30pm for the entire month of October.

Scholarships-

Big Futures Scholarship Opportunities: Big Futures works through college board and gives students scholarship opportunities just by completing the steps necessary to apply for college.
For example, compiling a college list, practicing the SAT, exploring scholarships, completing the FAFSA, etc. all give students additional entries to win scholarship money. We had a young lady get a $10,000 scholarship last year. Please take the opportunity to look into this.

Hurricane Ian coverage

DTV (DAVISON) – (09/29/2022)  -Hurricane Ian hit the southwest coast of Florida on Wednesday as a category 4 hurricane with wind speeds reaching up to 150 mph. The hurricane then continued on to the east side of Florida through Thursday. It is projected to hit the water again between now and tomorrow morning. By then Ian will have lost some strength turning into a tropical storm but once it hits the water it may gain some of its strength back. It will then head towards Charleston, South Carolina.

A close friend of DTV, Margaret Grigsby of Fox13 in Tamp Bay reports her experience as they bunkered down at the news station and prepared for the storm to hit. Click HERE to see Grigsby’s report and to watch DTV’s newscast from today with special Hurricane Ian coverage.

Support Mr. Beamer in his “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/22/22) – This month is breast cancer awareness month, to support the fight against breast cancer, Davison’s own athletic director Dave Beamer is once again competing in the “Real men wear pink campaign”. Beamer’s goal is to raise 35 hundred dollars for the American Cancer Society, if you’d like to help Mr. Beamer in surpassing his goal you can donate to save lives on his website. Or you can purchase one of his infamous “You don’t have to be this cool to wear pink” shirts  at Hilton Screeners in Davison for $10. A portion of proceeds will be donated to American Cancer Society.

 

 

First ever football game against Traverse City, 2022 gold out game

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/9/22) – For the first time ever, the Davison Cardinals varsity football team will be taking on Traverse City Central. The game will be at Cardinal Stadium tonight (Friday September 9th). Traverse City is currently placed as the 29th in the state and Davison is 19th.

Tonight’s game is also the 2022 gold out game where spectators are encouraged to wear gold to raise awareness for childhood cancer. A portion of the proceeds of Gold Out shirt sales will go to help with childhood cancer research.  You can still get a shirt at Hilton Screeners in downtown Davison.

Tickets are $5 at the gate and kickoff is at 7 p.m. If you can’t make it out, DTV will be streaming the entire game on our YouTube channel at DTV News and our charter 191.

2022 Homecoming week; everything you need to know

DAVISON (DTV) – (9/9/22) – Homecoming week begins Monday September 12th. Here’s some information to get you ready!

Spirit week:

Monday – Aliens vs. cowboys day: choose a side and represent them with pride

Tuesday – Black out the universe day: wear all black

Wednesday – Jersey day: Rock your favorite team jersey or club t-shirt. It’s also “everything but a back pack” day. Bring your books and supplies to school in something other than a back pack.

Thursday – Class t-shirt day: The t-shirts will be sold during all lunches the week of homecoming and are $10.

      • Freshmen: neon blue
      • Sophomore: neon green
      • Junior: neon orange
      • Senior: hot pink
      • Staff: black

Friday – Maroon & gold day. Show your Davison pride by wearing your cardinal colors!

Events:

  • Kick off assembly Tuesday 9/13: 1st hour is Freshmen, 2nd hour is Sophomores and the Alt Ed., and to finish it off Juniors and Seniors will be going during 3rd hour.
  • Powder puff game Wednesday 9/14: The juniors vs. seniors powderpuff game will begin at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium. Tickets are $5. There will be a halftime performance by junior and senior cheer teams as well as the crowning of the Homecoming King and Mr. Congeniality.
  • Pep assembly Friday 9/16: Students will be dismissed via PA after attendance is taken in 6th hour. Students will sit with their class at Cardinal Stadium.
  • Parade Friday 9/16: The line up starts at 4 p.m. in the east, DAE, and E lots. If your class, group, or child is in the parade, you cannot park in these lots. Please park in the front or other side of the building and walk around instead.
  • Homecoming Game Friday 9/16: Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5. The 2022 Homecoming Queen and Miss Congeniality will be crowned at halftime of the game.
  • Dance Saturday 9/17: The dance will be held at the DHS gym from 7-10 p.m.. Tickets are $15 and will be sold during lunches starting on September 12th. At the door they will be $20. Guest forms are due September 9th by noon. You MUST have an approved date form to buy a ticket for a date outside of DHS.
    • Dance Guidelines & information 
       Davison students MUST bring their school I.D.
       Dancing must be appropriate to the school setting. All dancing must be face to face.
       No provocative or lewd dancing.
       No “twerking”.
       All students and guests found to be dancing inappropriately will be asked to
      stop and/or leave the dance.
       Glow Sticks are not allowed.
       If you leave the dance, you will not be readmitted. In case of emergency, contact the person in charge of the building before leaving. Above all, common sense should dictate your attire and behavior. We would not
      expect your behavior at a dance to be any different than what you would display in
      front of your parents.
    • Dress Code:
      Females: Necklines should not plunge below the bust line. Plunging backs are acceptable provided the back does not dip more than 2 inches below the waistline. Dress length must be at least mid-thigh. If there is material on the skirt that is see-through, then the underlying skirt, must meet the required dress length. Slits on dresses/skirts should not be higher than mid-thigh. There are to be NO cut-outs (areas with no material) between the bust line and the thigh. This includes cut-outs which are covered with sheer (see-through) material.
      Males: Dress slacks, dress shirt, tie (for Prom) and appropriate shoes. Shirt must be kept on at all times. Anyone wearing shorts, jeans, or sweats will not be admitted.

No backpacks at Cardinal Stadium

DAVISON (DTV) – 9/1/22 – As football season begins, there is a new rule for Cardinal Stadium this school year. Backpacks will not be allowed into Cardinal Stadium at all.

This new policy will make it easier for room in the bleachers, as well as safety for the community. If you do bring a backpack there is no placement to keep them. You will not be allowed to enter with one and will have to take the backpack elsewhere.

Davison High School’s first home football game against DCC

DAVISON (DTV) – 8/31/22 – For the first time this season, the Davison Varsity football team will take the field at Cardinal Stadium on Friday September 2nd. Come out to see the number 17th in the state, Davison Cardinals take on Detroit Catholic Central who is placed 29th in the state.

Tickets are $5 at the gate but if you can’t make it in person DTV will be streaming the entire game it on our YouTube channel at DTV News and our Charter channel 191. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
